How to get access to the assets deposited on a German bank account?
If you inherited in Germany most likely you will be faced with the situation of finding that large part of the assets are deposited on a German bank account.
And it is also obvious that the banks want to be sure they disburse the amounts to those only who are really entitled to that.
Your entitlement can be proven in two ways:
– last will prepared by a public notary
or
– certificate of inheritance.
For a variety of reasons it can be that you do not or you cannot personally appear at the bank to pick up the money. One reason could be the lack of flexibility shown by the banks. And the surprisingly bad English they speak – particularly in smaller branches of a bank. Or that they are simply not willing to speak English. We had that all in our practice. And let´s not speak about the arrogance bankers sometimes find necessary to display.
Mandated with the job to get access to assets on a German bank for a client, we take care of all formalities, provide you with the proper legitimization you need to sign for us and make the arrangements with the bank to transfer the money immediately to a bank account you name. This way you can be sure all the money on the account finds its way to its new owner – you (Minus the usual costs of the transfer, fees for the bank etc.).
